GARDEN DAY PROGRAMMEPrimary substance misuse treatment for non-residential clients
|
Kairos Community Trust has 20 years of experience in restoring health and happiness to clients and the Garden Day Programme is our new service for those who want and need treatment for their addictions while still living in their own accomodation.
The Garden Day Programme offers a 12 week day programme of treatment based around the Twelve Step model of AA / NA / GA. It provides vital support in the early days of recovery as clients face the difficult task of living a life free from addictive substances and addresses the root causes of their addictions.
Group therapy is central to treatment and is a powerful motivator of change. Individuals are helped to identify feelings, develop self-awareness, engage in problem solving, and discover what must be changed in order to live a healthier life style. It also provides an opportunity to reinforce positive expectations and challenge negative preconceptions.
Guided written assignments form the basis of developing an awareness of the damage caused by addiction as well as the steps needed to recover ,while workshops on the physical and mental effects of addiction, relapse prevention, drink and drug awareness, assertiveness, managing change and anger/anxiety management support the process. (Help is available for those who have difficulties with reading or writing).
Every client is assigned a counsellor with whom they meet once a week and the Kairos team of qualified staff are available to offer additional support, advice and referrals to other appropriate professionals as needed.
The Garden Day Programme is staffed by counsellors and group facilitators who are all Diploma level trained counsellors and members of BACP. They bring a caring, understanding, and supportive ethos into our addiction recovery programme. Their training and experience is invaluable to our clients and we believe that their modelling of sobriety can be a powerful therapeutic tool.
